In the late 19th century, a 22-year-old woman made history. Dr. Anandibai Joshi, India's first female physician, defied a patriarchal society, orthodox norms, and personal tragedy to earn an MD from America — a feat unimaginable in her time. But her story is not just a historical milestone. It is a mirror, held up to us, 150 years later.

Through a poetic blend of biography and contemporary commentary, “Dr. Anandibai – Like, Comment, Share” examines the legacy of a woman who carved her identity beyond being a wife, daughter, or mother. The play reflects on the status of women then and now — questioning the illusion of progress in a world where women still strive for validation, balance, and autonomy.

Set between past and present, the play is both tribute and provocation: How far have we really come? Are today’s women truly free, or are they still applauded only when they succeed at everything — quietly, gracefully, without complaint?

Anchored by Anandibai’s courage and shadowed by today’s silent expectations, the play becomes a stirring dialogue between generations, between inspiration and introspection. It asks not just what Anandibai achieved, but what we’ve done with the path she paved.
